“Maido” is an expression from the Kansai area (around Osaka) used most often to expressgratitude, most commonly used as “maido ookini”.
Come to Maido to taste our chef´s hometown soul food - Osaka style okonomiyaki and manyother Japanese dishes. Enjoy the atmosphere of Japanese izakaya and surprise yourselfwith new tastes.
Base of okonomiyaki is a fresh cabbage and dashi katsuo broth made from dried tuna flakesand kombu seaweed. Okonomiyaki are usually topped with sweet, savoury okonomi sauce,mayonnaise, aonori seaweed and flakes of dried tuna.
In translation, “okonomi” means “whatever you like” and “yaki” means fried, so basicallyanything can be added inside. Classical type - butatama - is with thin, crispy slices of porkbelly. Other popular variants are with shrimp, other seafood, kimchi or with noodles whichoriginated in Hiroshima.
Besides okonomiyaki, you can try small dishes in the style of Japanese izakaya, such askaraage, our homemade kimchi and others. You can also try several types of japanese beerincluding draught Kirin and a wide selection of fine sake.
